2024 FIA Formula 2 Australia Event Preview

Invicta Racing aiming to carry momentum down under

Off the back of the team’s first podium finish of the 2024 FIA Formula 2 season, Invicta Racing heads to Australia for the third weekend in four to kick off the campaign.

With four DRS zones, this circuit has the most on the entire calendar and the revisions put in place for the 2022 race turned what was once a highly technical challenge into one of the fastest circuits throughout the year. The overtaking opportunities are high, but races can also lead to DRS trains forming.

The 5.278 kilometres features plenty of technical acceleration zones, but also a nice mix of fast corners for drivers to enjoy and for fans to see the Dallara F2 2024 against the fast turns. It will be a great opportunity for the teams and drivers to see what the new package can do when racing close together with these fast turns.

The weather can also be unpredictable here. Last year’s Sprint Race turned on its head with a late shower, but the weather is set to be pleasant this time around.

Team Formbook

The team only has one weekend of experience under its belt in Australia. Last year, the best result was eighth in the Feature Race. Kush took a podium, his first in FIA F2, in the Sprint Race, while Gabriel resisted late pressure to win the Feature Race in FIA Formula 3.

Memorable Moment

2023 marked the first time FIA F2 raced at Albert Park, and the weekend proved to be very eventful. Ayumu Iwasa took victory but only after facing a pair of Safety Car restarts including one late on.

Andy Roche, Team Principal:

Melbourne is another very fast circuit but does feature different characteristics to what we have faced in Bahrain and Saudi Arabia. Last year proved that the races can turn very quickly, so it will be tricky to judge how the weekend will play out. It has been a very busy month for the entire team with three race weekends, and we will have learned a lot in that time which we will take with us ahead of the in-season test next month.

All times Australian Eastern Daylight Time, UTC +11. Follow Invicta Racing for updates throughout the weekend.
