Invicta Racing made a positive start to the European leg of the 2025 FIA Formula 2 season in Imola with further points added to the team’s tally.
On the Supersoft tyres, both Roman Stanek and Leonardo Fornaroli had a positive start to Qualifying, setting the second and fifth fastest times respectively with their first flying laps.
Both drivers came into the pits with 15 minutes remaining in the session to switch to another set of the Supersoft tyres for their final runs.
A red flag with six minutes remaining forced a return to pit lane, with Leonardo and Roman sat in fourth and 12th respectively.
Unfortunately, the session was not resumed, meaning neither driver had the opportunity to improve their position.
2025 Formula 2 IMOLA Qualifying RESULTS
Leonardo Fornaroli: 4th (1:27.702)
Roman Stanek: 12th (1:28.237)
Leonardo and Roman both opted to start the Sprint Race on the Soft tyre, lining up seventh and 12th on the grid respectively.
Roman made up two places at the start to enter the top 10, while Leonardo retained his position in seventh.
Hot on the heels of the car ahead, Roman then capitalised on a mistake made by Dino Beganovic on lap 15 to gain another position.
Roman’s charge continued, making a move on Joshua Duerksen around the outside of turn two just two laps later to take eighth, just behind team-mate Leonardo.
After chasing Alex Dunne down for sixth most of the race, Leonardo started to drop back as his tyres started to wear. He had to defend from Roman at turn two on lap 20 as the Czech driver was applying pressure.
The two drivers continued running in tandem for the remaining five laps and rounded out the points in seventh and eighth.

Leonardo Fornaroli: 7th (2 points)
Roman Stanek: 8th (1 point)
Leonardo began the Feature race from fourth position on the Supersoft tyres. On the Soft compound, Roman began the race from 12th. Both drivers were on the move at the start, with Leonardo up to second and Roman ninth.
Leonardo came into the pits at the first opportunity for the Soft tyres on lap 7, along with the other drivers in the top four. Unfortunately, the Italian driver lost out during the pitstops, as he had to be held for the other cars to go past, dropping him to the back of the quartet.
As others began to take their pit stops, Leonardo circulated in 12th while Roman was running in third after opting to stay out longer before the Safety Car came out on lap 15, closing the field up.
Racing resumed on lap 19, with Leonardo chasing the pack ahead to secure more points. Roman, however, began to struggle on his tyres, losing positions to those around him on fresher rubber.
The team pitted the Czech driver on lap 32 for the Supersoft tyre after it was clear there would not be another Safety Car period and he rejoined in 17th.
The duo concluded the race in fifth and 17th, with Leonardo continuing his points-scoring streak, adding 10 to his tally.

LEONARDO FORNAROLI
“It’s been great to race in front of a home crowd this weekend and I’m glad I was able to score some more valuable points across both races. We were in position to fight for a podium finish in the Feature race but being held in the pit lane meant it was just out of reach. There’s still a long way to go and I’m looking forward to Monaco next week.”

ROMAN STANEK
“It’s been another mixed weekend. I wasn’t able to complete my final flying lap in Qualifying which meant we started further down the grid. We made good starts to both races and secured a point in the Sprint, but after holding out for a late Safety Car in the Feature race, we weren’t able to fight for the top 10. I hope we can continue the good pace into Monaco.”

JAMES ROBINSON, TEAM PRINCIPAL
“We’ve made a good start to the European leg of the season. We were presented with some challenges, but we know the pace is there and, overall, we can be happy with how the weekend has played out. There is a short turnaround to Monaco next weekend, so we will analyse the data and look to continue our momentum as it will be all to play for on the streets.”
