Four-time FIA Formula 2 race winner Joshua Dürksen joins reigning champions Invicta Racing for the 2026 season and brings with him a wealth of experience in the Formula 1 feeder series.

Ahead of the new campaign, we sat down with Paraguay’s first – and to date, its only – F2 race winner to learn what makes him tick.

What are your thoughts going into 2026?

“My thoughts going into 2026, to be honest, are just a lot of excitement and adrenaline. I'm really looking forward to starting the season, especially with Invicta Racing as they are a very strong team. I'm getting to know everyone now and there are great people inside the team, so I'm really looking forward to having an entertaining and fun season with them.”

What do you want to achieve this year with Invicta?

“Many people will think about the results - and of course we want to win the championship and to be on the front row all the time - but I will just try to focus on doing the best job I can as a driver within my own capabilities and working well with everyone in the team, because that's the only way to succeed.”

How does it feel to represent Paraguay on the world stage?

“It's a true honour. It's already a big privilege for me just to be racing, especially in Formula 2 with the best team, but being the only Paraguayan is a unique and a big responsibility. I will be giving my best to represent my country in the best possible way.”

Who has influenced your racing?

“I'd say myself, because there's not really any racing history in my family. I’ve loved cars for as long as I can remember and always loved playing with them when I was little, so it has always been a passion. But who ignited the fire? I think it was my dad, because he took me to try rental karts and I was like ‘okay, this is interesting’. Then he bought me a go-kart and, when I tried it for the first time, it was very clear that was what I wanted to do. So, I always had the passion, but I think my dad and my family ignited this fire inside of me.”

If you weren't a racing driver, what would you be doing?

“There are many things I would like to do, but I don’t know for sure which one. It could be in some other sport, probably athletics, or maybe an airplane pilot or working in finance – I really like all those things.”

What do you do before a race? Aside from putting on your race kit, do you have a certain routine or ritual?

“I've got a routine which I do every single time, just to make sure I'm on the right level of concentration and activation of my body. So, it's more like a warm-up to be ready for the race rather than something special that I think will give me luck or anything like that.”

What's it like having a fellow South American as a team-mate?

“It's very cool, to be honest. I've had South American and Mexican team-mates in previous years and we understand each other well because we have similar cultures, so it's very easy to connect and have fun.”
