Invicta Racing to join FIA Formula Regional European Championship in 2027

Invicta Racing is delighted to announce that it will expand its motorsport portfolio by joining the FIA Formula Regional European Championship from the 2027 season.

The move will see Invicta Racing enter a second FIA-sanctioned category alongside its existing FIA Formula 2 programme as the team continues to strengthen its presence across the junior single-seater pathway.

Formula Regional European Championship became an FIA-sanctioned series in 2026 and plays a critical role in the development of young drivers, sitting between Formula 4 and FIA Formula 3 on the pathway towards Formula 1.

The championship has established itself as a key proving ground for emerging talent, with current Formula 1 drivers Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Isack Hadjar, Franco Colapinto, and former Invicta Racing driver, Gabriel Bortoleto, among those to have competed in the series.

Invicta Racing also has strong links to the championship, with current driver Rafael Câmara winning the 2024 title before joining the team in FIA Formula 2 for 2026 while team-mate, Joshua Dürksen, competed in the series in 2022 and 2023.

Freddie Slater, who finished second in FIA Formula 3 in 2026 and will step up to FIA Formula 2 with Invicta Racing in 2027, secured the Formula Regional European Championship title in 2025.

Invicta Racing will field three cars in the upcoming 2027 FIA Formula Regional European Championship season, competing with the new Tatuus T-326.

The team’s expansion into the FIA Formula Regional European Championship marks an important next step for Invicta Racing, providing the Norfolk-based outfit an opportunity to identify and nurture emerging talent at an earlier stage of their careers, both behind the wheel and in the garage.

Invicta Racing has established itself as one of the leading teams in junior single-seater motorsport after securing consecutive FIA Formula 2 Teams’ and Drivers’ Championship titles with Bortoleto in 2024 and Leonardo Fornaroli in 2025.

With two rounds remaining of the current FIA Formula 2 campaign, the team stands on the brink of clinching a third successive Drivers’ title, with Câmara leading the standings.

The addition of FIA Formula Regional European Championship will further strengthen Invicta Racing’s talent development capabilities, while allowing the team to build its technical and operational expertise across multiple levels of junior single-seater competition.

EYAL LALO, CEO INVICTA WATCH GROUP, CHAIRMAN & TEAM OWNER INVICTA RACING

“Expanding into FREC is a natural next step for Invicta Racing. We have built a winning culture in Formula 2, with back to back championships, and our ambition remains very simple. We race to win. With that success comes an even greater opportunity to identify, incubate and develop the next generation of champions. We have already proven what the right environment, team and belief can do for young talent, and FREC allows us to begin that journey even earlier. We have set the bar high in Formula 2, and we intend to bring that same winning mentality to FREC.”

JAMES ROBINSON, CEO & TEAM PRINCIPAL, INVICTA RACING

“We’re delighted to be expanding the Invicta Racing portfolio into FREC from 2027. The series is a fantastic proving ground for young drivers, including current and inbound Invicta F2 drivers, Rafael (Câmara) and Freddie (Slater), as two of its most recent champions. It’s a logical next step for us as we aim to continue identifying and nurturing the very best talent, both behind the wheel and in the garage. This project has already been many months in the works, and we’ve made excellent progress in bringing the right people together to make the project a success. We have a busy few months ahead to put the final pieces of the puzzle in place, with some exciting announcements to follow in due course.”
